Many Independent Schools offer a narrow curriculum in the Sixth Form, which when combined with anxiety about their academic league table position, has meant that the needs and ambitions of all students are not fully met. We are one of the first independent Collegiates to offer first class facilities and broad opportunities to all students, whether their preference is for the traditional academic route or a more flexible and creative pathway.
By choosing The Collegiate with Queen Ethelburga’s Faculty and Queen Ethelburga’s College, students of all abilities and aspirations receive inspired, first class tuition on appropriate and stimulating courses. The Faculty offers a flexible combination of courses, and we invited potential students to discuss any individual subject preference with us. We have long experience of providing careers advice and in helping students to succeed. Parents can be confident that the pastoral care and orderliness of school life is professional and supportively provided. Our facilities are amongst the best in the UK and our boarding accommodation is widely regarded as amongst the best in Europe.
With Queen Ethelburga’s Faculty and Queen Ethelburga’s College, students of all abilities and all aspirations receive inspired first class tuition. Many potential QE Faculty students may wish to re-sit previous GCSE examinations. This is easily catered for and usually presents little or no problems. Our expert extra tuition can often help students achieve grades they thought unattainable.
What Is The Time Scale For The Faculty?
The Faculty is already up and running. We have a limited number of students who would not normally qualify for inclusion in the traditional Queen Ethelburga’s College 6th Form and thus they are now part of the Faculty. This is due to a combination of factors ~ these students need to take a number of examination re-sits, their current ability and achievement level means it is not the best decision to follow a traditional 4 or 5 A-Level subject course and / or they are better suited to a lesser number of A-Levels and possible non A-Level vocational courses.
Now, by the creation of Queen Ethelburga’s Faculty, concerned parents of younger children, whose ability may not match up to what other schools require, can be reassured that there is a structured obvious independent education pathway from Years 1 to Year 13 inclusive.
